I’m Cathal Donovan O’Neill, a Cork-based writer with primary experience in music writing and the odd piece of comic book criticism. I’ve experience with interviews in features and Q&A format, reviews, and copywriting.
I served as music editor for University College Cork’s student-run monthly magazine Motley from 2019-2020, and then the college’s biweekly newspaper University Express from 2020-2021. Having now run out of student publications to edit the music sections for ( ‘And Alexander wept, seeing he had no more feature interviews left to copyedit‘), I’m looking for new places to write.
I’ve also some experience as a staff writer for Multiversity Comics.com‘s ‘Webcomics Weekly’ column, where I wrote reviews every other week.
I can write up a feature or a press release for print or online, I can hit a deadline, and I’ve developed open communication skills from working alongside different writing teams as editor and staff writer. I also turn in clean copy — I read Strunk for fun, for chrissakes. And if there an area or skill I’m unfamiliar with, I’m always passionate to improve my skills.
